CATIA Drawing or CATIA Drafting standard
HOW to change the Standard Default units for CATIA drawing or for CATIA drafting workbench?
This is Normal behavior because your New CATIA drawing (Drafting work bench) has the default unites values, and those values are defined in your standard. So, you can change your dimension unit by the following 2 methods.
1- In the new drawing session (CATIA drafting work bench), you can choose your desired units from the “Dimension Properties” toolbar. Now, you have to do this each time you need dimensions otherwise it will be back again with the default.
2- The following step will change the default value, and this might be the best option if you think you will be using the same units all the time. In order to make changes in the standard, you have to access CATIA as Administrator mode. see previous tutorials how to access CATIA as Admin if needed.
Now, once you access CATIA as Admin, and then open New Drawing.
Go to Tools—Standards
On the Standard definition window, pick category: drafting and the appropriate xml file (make sure you picked the correct style you need)
Select Standard > Standard_Name > Styles > Length/Distance Dimension > Default > Value Display Format > Main Value > NameFor instance you put the name as “mm” for millimeter and click OK to exit.
Now your standard units should be defaulted as inches in this example.
In CATIA Drawing or Drafting mode, Why I am not able insert following characters #, @, or ^ and it displays incorrectly in text?
Most likely because your font is active as ROM or GOTH which does not have those signs. So, to get those signs you need to change the fonts through Text properties toolbar and change it to something similar to Monospac or SSS4…etc
NOTE: if you need to change the default of those fonts, you may follow similar process as explained above question.
